Ruger Suspends New Gun Orders

Okay, if you haven’t already heard this, due to huge demand, Ruger has temporarily stopped accepting new orders. The company’s retailer programs that were offered beginning the first of the year were so successful that through Feb. 29 the firm had received orders for more than a million firearms.

Ruger went right to work to increase production, but the pace of incoming orders exceeded their capacity to fill them. CEO Michael Fifer said the company expects to resume normal acceptance of orders by the end of May. In short, if there’s a Ruger you want and it’s on the shelf of your local gun store, you’d better go get it.

I wonder if the "successful retailer programs" translated into at least some 'marginal consumer savings'!!! Trickle downs so often never reach the consumer!

Good to hear that Ruger is providing a lot of jobs.

It would be interesting to know what lines have this much demand. I know I've haven't see a Ruger Scout at my retailers, with the exception of one left-handed model, and that sold almost immediately.

Well, I just bought a M77 rifle and the workmanship of the bolt to chamber was so poor that when I held the rifle vertical in the unlock position the bolt would NOT drop open. Called the manufacturer and said it was a year old and wouldn't do anything about it without charge ( was operated on and didn't use for a year). So I've been using lapping compound and elbow grease trying to get the smooth operation I should have gotten from the factory.
Their workmanship has really fallen by the wayside!!! I've been a Ruger rifle owner for 40 years and this has been a real disappointment.

With the passing of the founding fathers, Ruger has turned into a "K-Mart " with no regard for the customers of their products with problems, No one there will talk to a problem, strictly regulated by their Attorneys.
