Boddington and 6.5 Grendel
Our man Craig Boddington gives Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel a workout. AA has two new Grendels: this 6.5 lb. lightweight and a piston gun.
6.5 Grendel
Okay, so I'm an admitted 6.5 fan and had really been waiting for a chance to shoot the 6.5 Grendel, and I was not disappointed. It's leaving the muzzle of a 14.5-inch barrel at 2405 fps for 1580 ft.-lbs. Very comfortable to shoot, and very flat shooting. We were ringing steel out to 640 yards with the cartridge with ease.
Bunch o' ARs
Now here's a sight that would make any AR fan's heart beat fast. A bunch of Alexander Arms guns from .17 HMR to .50 Beowulf.
Thompson/Center Dimension
I had a chance to get a sneak peek at the Thompson/Center Dimension when they were first developing it, and as someone who has a good amount of experience with switch-barrel rifles, I thought they did an excellent job with it. Zero repeatability after disassembly/reassembly is excellent, and all the samples I've shot have demonstrated excellent accuracy.
Dimension fore-end
We've got a big feature coming up on the Dimension, and all I have to say at this point is it's got some radical but functional styling. The rifle comes with two well-designed tools for disassembly/reassembly or for swapping barrels, including a torque wrench that assures proper barrel installation.
Dimension buttstock
The buttstock features an extra high comb that puts your eye right in line with scope. We shot the gun out to 500 yards today with Nikon scope aboard, and I can tell you the setup is just right.
