TetraGun-Triple-Action

TetraGun Triple Action

I'm a sucker for chemicals that do more than one thing, and the Triple Action spray is just what I'm talking about. Spray it on to clean metal surfaces, and it then evaporates—leaving behind a light lubricant film that both lubricates and protects from corrosion. It's also gentle and can be used safely around polymer stocks.

Federal-Fusion-6.5-Creedmoor

Recommended

Federal Fusion 6.5 Creedmoor

The 6.5 Creedmoor continues to make inroads as a factory cartridge, and now there's a 140-grain Fusion load. The Fusion is a chemically bonded bullet for the budget-minded, and it's designed specifically for deer hunters with big expansion and high weight retention. And I've found other Fusion loads to be accurate, so chances are it will shoot well.

Ruger-Precision-6mm-Creedmoor

Ruger Precision 6mm Creedmoor

The Precision was a success right out of the gate, giving shooters an accurate and affordable rifle for long-range competitions. The gun is now chambered to the new 6mm Creedmoor, which provides good ballistics with low recoil—enabling shooters to spot their own shots. The 24-inch barrel features a 1:7.7 twist and 5R rifling.

Otis-Patriot

Otis Patriot

All the essentials you need for pull-through cleaning in one kit, which Otis is known for, but I think this new package is handier. Kits are caliber specific, and also new is a nifty tool that doubles as a T handle and a driver (four bits included). Rifle options include .17, .22, .223, .30 calibers.

>>$20—$25, Otistec.com

SIG-Sauer-Kilo-2400-ABS

SIG Sauer Kilo 2400 ABS

SIG's newest rangefinder embeds an Applied Ballistics calculator, onboard environmental sensors and software that allows the unit to wirelessly sync with a free ballistic app that includes G1 and G7 bullet data along with custom drag curves. It even compensates for Coriolis effect for those really long shots, along with the usual incline/decline info, and it comes with a WindMeter that plugs into its smartphone jack. There's so much more that we don't have space to describe, so just check it out on the web if you've got the resources to afford it.

>>$1,800, SigOptics.com

Birchwood-Casey-Oil-Applicator

Birchwood Casey Oil Applicator

Talk about handy. The cap on one side of the applicator pulls off to reveal a fibrous pen tip and the other unscrews to withdraw a small brush (think a nail polish brush), giving you two easy options to lube a gun. The oil itself is a synthetic that won't gum up or lose viscosity at tems from -55 to 300 degrees, and it cleans while it oils. The perfect thing for any range bag or gun bench.

>>$7, BirchwoodCasey.com

Weaver-SPR-Mount

Weaver SPR Mount

Designed specifically for the AR platform, Weaver's SPR can accommodate both one-inch and 30mm scope tubes—courtesy of aluminum ring halves that fit around the tube of a one-inch scope. The inserts have a raised ridge on the outside that mates with the outer edge of the mount's rings. I used this setup recently on a one-inch scope, and it works slick as a whistle. Constructed of anodized 6063-T6 aluminum, the SPR fits on Picatinny rails and provides the right scope height for an AR. Weight with inserts is only 5.4 ounces.

Leica-Magnus-Non-Illuminated

Leica Magnus Non-Illuminated

The Magnus features a zoom factor of nearly seven, and the three models in the non-illuminated line have all the bases covered. They include 1.5-10x42mm, 1.8-12x50mm (shown) and 2.4-16x56mm, and all are built on 30mm tubes. Lenses are coated in AquaDura, which sheds water and fights dust, and the lens system promises 91 percent light transmission. We'll have a report on the 1.5-10X in an upcoming issue.
