Copper fouling is the bane of centerfire shooters who shoot jacketed bullets, which is pretty much all of us. Now there's a powder that promises to deter copper fouling while you shoot. Hodgdon's new CFE223 (CFE stands for Copper Fouling Eraser) will benefit everyone but particularly competition guys, varminters, AR fanatics and big game hunters who spend a lot of time at the range.
Originally designed for U.S. rapid-fire military systems, CFE223 is a spherical powder, so it will meter well. Data for 27 cartridges (147 loads in all) are available at the company's website. Hodgdon says max velocities were achieved in .204 Ruger, .223/5.56, .22-250 and .308/7.62.
