Leupold's Laura Peter Crowned Women's High Power Silhouette World Champion

Sharp shooter comes home with a gold, two silvers and three bronze medals in the competition held in South Africa.

Beaverton, Or. -- Laura Peter, a hunting/shooting market specialist at Leupold won the Women's High Power Silhouette World Championship held in Bloemfontein, Republic of South Africa.

The competition took place April 3-17 of this year, in difficult shooting conditions, including strong, swirling winds and blowing dust. Peter's rifles for both high power and small bore events are topped with Leupold riflescopes. She shoots a rifle chambered in .260 Remington for the high power events, and uses Vihtavouri propellants and Nosler bullets.

Representing the U.S.A., Peter also won two silver medals, one in the Team High Power event, the other in the Small Bore Team Match. In addition, she earned a bronze medal in each of the following events: International Class High Power Silhouette Rifle, Master Class High Power Hunter Rifle and Small Bore Aggregate.

Peter, who resides in Vancouver, WA, joined Leupold in 2002 as a technical service expert. She has competed at a high level in silhouette shooting for a number of years. Peter began participating in high power competitions in 2000, advancing to the Master Class (the top level in the U.S.) in less than one year. Her first high power win came in 2002 at the British Columbia championships.
