At the 2014 NRA Show , Federal Premium Ammunition proved that muzzleloader technology isn't going the way of the dinosaurs any time soon. In fact, Federal's new Trophy Copper Muzzleloader Bullet with B.O.R. Lock MZ System is one of the most innovative products introduced to the world of black powder firearms for quite some time now.
The innovation comes from Federal's new B.O.R. Lock MZ system, designed to enter the barrel easily without excessive force, yet expand to create a tight seal against the rifling when exiting the barrel. The bullet starts with a polymer cup that's permanently attached to the base of the bullet. The cup pushes into the base of the bullet upon ignition, forcing raised polymer bands to expand and create a tight seal against the bore and engage the rifling. Increased velocity and accuracy are the intended effects, in addition to easier loading compared to sabot bullets.
The B.O.R. Lock system comes attached to a .50-caliber, 270-grain copper alloy bullet with a polymer tip and deep hollow-point cavity.
Available now for $24.95 per 15-pack, pick up these bullets now and you'll have plenty of time to test them out before next deer season.
