A new book chronicling the M1941 Johnson rifle and its progeny is available from Andrew Mowbray Publishing. Johnson Rifles and Machine Guns by noted U.S. military arms historian Bruce N. Canfield and co-authors Robert L. Lamoreaux and Edward R. Johnson covers the full spectrum of Melvin Maynard Johnson, Jr.'s contributions. In addition to the M1941 rifle that saw service with the Marines in WWII, Johnson developed the M1941 and M1944 Light Machine Gun, a prototype paratroop rifle, recoilless mortar, aircraft cannon, indoor target guns and the Spitfire carbine. The book is 272 pages and has more than 285 B&W photos.
