Ruger Supports U.S. Olympic Shooters

A special limited-edition Ruger 10/22 benefits the men and women of USA Shooting, who must now wait another year for a shot at the Olympics.

The Ruger 10/22 USA Shooting commemorative sports a red, white and blue laminate stock. A portion of the profits will USA Shooting to support its athletes.

We here at RifleShooter are big proponents of competitive shooting, and we’re especially big fans of USA Shooting and our Olympic athletes. Unfortunately, the hard work by our men and women has been dealt a major blow as the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for this summer have been postponed until 2021.

It’s a huge disappointment, but these shooters are not going to stop working toward their goals, and they need our support. That’s why we applaud Ruger and its new special, limited-edition USA Shooting 10/22 Takedown commemorative. Only 2,020 will be produced, with serial numbers from 2020-001 to 2020-2020. A portion of the profits will be donated directly to USA Shooting, which is trying to raise $50,000 for our athletes.

The rifle features a great-looking red, white and blue laminate stock. It features a Monte Carlo cheekpiece, and a USA Shooting Team medallion is inlaid into the right side. Other special items include a USA Shooting carry case, a Shooting Is My Olympic Sport decal and an enrollment card for USA Shooting.

Our shooters are going to have train for an additional year to prepare for Tokyo 2021, and that means they need more funds for ammunition, travel and other necessary expenses. Buying one of these rifles shows your support for their efforts, plus you get a cool one-of-a-kind gun.

Aside from the special stock and the extras, the 10/22 Takedown is the latest iteration of one of the most popular .22s ever produced. Lock the bolt to the rear, push a recessed lever in the fore-end and twist; the rifle separates into two easily transported components. I’ve shot several variants of the Takedown, and I’ve always been impressed at how well these rifles return to zero after disassembly/reassembly.

The 16.4-inch barrel is cold hammer forged and is threaded 1/2x28 for a muzzle device. It’s compatible with Ruger’s Silent-SR suppressor, and it features an adjustable rear sight and a gold-bead front sight. It comes with an adapter that will accommodate Weaver-style rings or .22 tip-off scope mounts.

The 10-round rotary magazine releases courtesy of an easy to reach and easy to operate lever behind the magazine well—as opposed to the old-school flush-fitting lever.

With the current Covid-19 situation (this item was posted on 4/8/20), Gallery of Guns, which is the official distributor, recommends interested buyers go through their local gun shops to obtain this rifle. Tell your dealer it’s a TALO exclusive, item number 31126. Price is $679. Note this distribution situation could change at any time, so it’s probably a good idea to consult the Gallery of Guns website first.
