Following on the heels of last year's introduction of PDX1 Defender centerfire rifle ammo designed specifically for personal defense, Winchester has added two loads to that line.
New is a 77-grainer in .223 Remington with a muzzle velocity of 2,500 fps; it's designed for use with fast twist barrels on the order of 1:7 to 1:9. The second new load is a 120-grain .308 Winchester with a muzzle velocity of 2,850 fps.
Both loads employ Winchester's Split Core bullet, which is designed to expand rapidly and dump its energy into a target without over-penetrating. Both new loads are designed for close-range defense work with AR-15 rifles.
